Dormio Eco Resort Curaçao
Dormio Eco Resort Curaçao will be built in the coming years on one of the most beautiful spots on the island of Curaçao: the inland lake of Rif Sint Marie. The unique eco-resort will consist of 350 properties and holiday homes to be completed in three different phases. In phase 1, 107 properties and the extensive facilities will be completed. These will include large swimming pools and lagoons for recreation and water sports facilities. The master plan for Dormio Eco Resort Curaçao has been approved by the government and we recently started selling the properties in this unique eco-resort.

Dormio Eco Resort Curaçao will consist of 350 holiday homes and suites spread over 4 areas, each with a unique look and feel. These holiday homes and suites can accommodate 2–6 people and are split into 4 themes. If preferred, the properties can be upgraded with various luxury options, such as a private swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen, a bigger patio and/or a carport. All of the facilities, such as the reception, resort shop, restaurant, bar and lovely swimming pools and swimming lagoons will also be completed in phase 1.
The inland lake of Rif Sint Marie
The area between Willemstad and the Spanish Water is now quite well developed. By contrast, the other side of the island, known as Banda Abou, has beautiful green areas and is much more accessible from the airport. The area where Dormio Eco Resort Curaçao is being built has a huge variety of flora and fauna, making it quite unique. Set in a green landscape with natural slopes, the resort offers stunning views of the inland lake Rif Sint Marie, also known as the Jan Kok Bay. The famous flamingo area is within easy reach. You will also find the charming beaches Playa Porto Marie and Daaibooi Beach very close to the resort.
The perfect base
The resort is located in the greener part of the Caribbean Island, Banda Abou, near the town of Sint Willibrordus. The inland lake of Rif Sint Marie is now a popular residence for tropical flamingos. Due to the resort's location, Dormio Eco Resort Curaçao offers the best of both worlds: your property is located in a beautiful and quiet part of the island where you can enjoy a relaxing holiday, but it is also the perfect base from which to explore the island. In just 30 minutes you can drive to lively Willemstad and it only takes 20 minutes to drive to the foot of the famous Christoffel Mountain in the north of the island. Curaçao airport is also just a 20-minute drive away.
With respect for nature and the environment
There has been much talk in recent decades about ecotourism, a form of tourism with love and respect for nature and all its beauty. The development of our new resort takes the environment into account and the unique characteristic features of this area in Banda Abou. The area is popular among hikers, cyclists and local fishermen. The resort therefore retains an open character, so that the entire green area is preserved, whilst still remaining accessible for local people. We are also partnering with nature organisations on the island, allowing visitors to explore the island and its surroundings through various guided tours. A local ecological consultancy agency has also been appointed, to ensure ecological responsibility based on scientific research.
Sustainable holiday homes
In addition to ecological aspects, we also took time to consider the sustainability of the holiday homes. The properties are designed to be energy-efficient: they are fitted with solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems and smart technology to optimise the use of water and electricity. In addition, when designing the properties, consideration was given to making them future-proof so that generations to come can also enjoy a sustainable holiday home. We also enlisted the help of an ecological consultancy to determine the best way to minimise any disturbance to the existing natural environment.

The rental of the holiday homes to national and international tourists will be handled professionally by our rental organisation Dormio Resorts & Hotels. At Dormio Eco Resort Curaçao, you can opt for a combination of tourist rental and personal use, whereby you can decide how often you want to use your holiday home yourself. If you wish to stay for a longer period of time, that is also possible.
